2015 OWA President's Dinner
The Mary Rose Museum
Saturday 9 May 2015
OWA President Michael Harwood has always been drawn to the sea. The Mary Rose Museum at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard was therefore a fitting choice for his President’s Dinner.
After a gentle stroll through the Dockyard, past HMS Warrior, the Royal Naval Museum and HMS Victory, OWs and guests gathered for drinks in the Pavilion of the Mary Rose Museum.
The Mary Rose was the pride of Henry VIII’s fleet before she sank in 1545. Before dinner, OWs and guests explored the Museum, witnessed the restoration work and discovered some of the 19,000 artefacts which have been recovered from the wreck site and which were on display.
Lt Cdr Anthony Pimm (WS 1992-99) gave Grace. Dinner and good company were enjoyed in the Admiral’s Gallery. The President was especially pleased to welcome a number of OWs for whom this was their first OW event. Maj Michael Pimm (WS 1993-2000) proposed the Loyal Toast and the evening finished with a toast to the School from the President and a reply from Head Master Gus Lock, who toasted the Old Warwickian Association.
