Warwick School has received a significant boost to its plans to provide additional free places in the form of bursaries with a donation from the Old Warwickian Trust.
The Old Warwickian Trust was set up by former pupils to provide charitable support for the school. Its first action has been to establish a bursary to provide a free place at the school to a suitably talented boy.
The bursary has been awarded to Zak Punnett, who takes up his place at the school in September 2013. Zak was formerly a pupil at Coten End Primary School in Warwick and he is looking forward to his new senior school to further his interests, particularly in mathematics and science. Zak has also been awarded an academic scholarship at the school.
Head Master Ed Halse said: "We are very grateful for the support of the Old Warwickian Trust which will help to further our ambitions of supporting talented boys to attend the school."
Old Warwickian Trust chairman Clive Mason said: “The trustees are delighted to be providing this bursary and very much hope that they will be able to offer further bursaries in the future.”
Warwick School will be celebrating its 1,100th anniversary in 2014. To coincide with this special year, the school will also be launching a fundraising appeal to encourage more support for bursaries.
