2015 1940s-60s School House Dinner
The Pyne Room (Big School)
Friday 4 September 2015
Over 70 boarders from the 1940s to the 1960s, together with several former members of staff, were welcomed back to School for this special occasion.
The late afternoon sun shone as OWs gathered under The Limes for a tour of the School by current Prefects. The current Boarding House Parent, Mr Mike Perry, then invited OWs to gather in the main reception area at the front of the School for an interesting talk highlighting the differences between boarding life in the 1940s-1960s and boarding life for Warwick School boys today. A service was then held in the Warwick School Chapel, with Patrick Moren (WS 1944-47) giving the reading and the School Chaplain, Reverend Andrew Gough, giving the address.
Guests then gathered for drinks in the Panel Room before enjoying dinner in the Pyne Room. Richard Gething (WS 1957-65) gave Grace, Captain Ian Thorpe RN (WS 1952-64) proposed the Loyal Toast, with Mr Brian Newman (WS 1955-65) proposing the toast to Floreat Schola Warwicensis. A reply was given from Head Master Mr Gus Lock who toasted the Old Warwickian Association.
